Our Consultants

Consultants who undertake private work within the Trust are mostly contracted employees of the Trust fulfilling a substantive NHS consultant post. The majority of their time is therefore spent on their NHS responsibilities with NHS patients, in line with their contract.

Some consultants may undertake the substantive part of their NHS work in another NHS Trust but also undertake some work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - in which case they will have applied for and had approved an honorary contract at our Trust.

Consultants undertaking private patient work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust must have applied for practicing privileges through the Private Patients Directorate. Consultants are routinely charged for their use of facilities (such as consulting rooms) for their private patient clinics.

Our private healthcare income is reinvested to support our NHS services across the Trust.
