Mr Daniel Markeson is a Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with specialist interests in Burns, Laser and Scar Management.

During his early surgical training he undertook a Research MD in stem cells and wound healing at University College London and then continued his plastic surgery specialty training in the Oxford Deanery before obtaining his FRCS (Plast) examination to join the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in 2021.

As part of his NHS role, Dan is the Educational Supervisor for London Deanery plastic surgeons in training, organises exam and interview preparation courses, weekly teaching seminars and holds a post as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of East Anglia. He was recently nominated for the Chelsea and Westminster ‘great big cheer’ for his “leadership, inclusion and human-to-human communication, significantly and directly impacting the mental wellbeing of all staff” and has received numerous accolades through his career for his teaching. He has over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 30 presentations at international conferences for plastic surgery and burns on a range of subjects such as, plastic surgery, aesthetics, reconstruction and burns.

Dan started as a consultant in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in August 2022 and has subsequently become an integral member of the plastic surgery department and burns unit. In addition to performing acute burns surgery for adults and children in London and the South East of England, he also carries out paediatric and adult laser and microneedling for scarring and is a member of the scar MDT. He also performs reconstructive plastic surgery and body contouring procedures such as breast reduction and abdominoplasty. Aesthetically, he uses lasers for skin rejuvenation, treating wrinkles and dyschromia (colour changes) in conjunction with other non-surgical treatments such as Botox® and fillers and he also performs fat grafting procedures to improve scars.

With his academic and professional background, Dan is well placed to provide an evidence-based treatment for his patients, giving them the best management using the very latest technology.
