Profile

Dr Margherita Bracchi is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where she leads the inpatient and day-unit services for the HIV/GUM Department, as well as the Trust’s tuberculosis (TB) service.

Her clinical expertise includes the management of advanced HIV infection, mycobacterial diseases, including tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, and the clinical pharmacology of HIV and TB treatments.

Dr Bracchi has played key leadership roles in the Trust’s responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 mpox outbreak. She is actively involved in national and international research programmes, including SARS-CoV-2 Human Challenge studies. In addition, she regularly teaches medical students, junior doctors, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, and contributes to guideline development for the British HIV Association (BHIVA) and the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS).
