Dr Edson Nogueira received his medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), one of the top medical schools in South America. He began his specialist training in endocrinology at the Medical College of Georgia – USA, being awarded a PhD with Distinction. Dr Nogueira continued to advance his studies in the United Kingdom as a post-doctoral clinical endocrine researcher at the University of Birmingham – UK. He completed his endocrinology clinical training in London, working initially at Barts Health NHS Trust, and later at Imperial College London. Throughout his academic and clinical career Dr Nogueira was mentored by international leaders in the field of endocrinology who inspired his continued professional development. Dr Nogueira works as a substantive consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and General Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Dr Nogueira looks after patients within all aspects of Endocrinology and Diabetes in inpatient and outpatient settings. His expertise includes diseases affecting the adrenal glands, endocrine hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and hypercholesterolaemia. He is a core member of multiple endocrine and diabetes MDTs within the Trust and across London. Dr Nogueira is the current lead for the Hypertension services within the Trust. He also provides endocrine advice for patients undergoing gender affirmation surgery.

As a general physician, Dr Nogueira is highly experienced in managing a wide range of general medical problems, with extensive expertise in managing conditions linked to increased cardiovascular risk such as hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes.

Dr Nogueira is one of the consultants leading The Wellman Clinic, a service designed to promote wellbeing, offering a range of preventative health check-ups and managing health problems specific to men. That includes treatment and monitoring of testosterone deficiency, obesity, and general medical conditions.  Dr Nogueira’s patient feedback is excellent and patients particularly appreciate the time he takes to listen and address their concerns. He fully believes in a holistic perspective and involving his patients on a shared approach to achieve optimum management. Dr Nogueira was awarded the prize of Role Model of the Year in 2022 by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust.
