Profile

Luke is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Virology, with special interests in critical care infections, antimicrobial resistance, and healthcare systems. Luke holds a PhD in this field, two Masters degrees in Public Health and in Clinical Microbiology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. Luke works clinically for secondary and tertiary care patients with infections in London, in particular focusing on infection management of patients in ICU and those with burns infections, as well as leading development of near-patient infection diagnostics, including for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luke’s current research focuses on the epidemiology of, and interventions for, infectious diseases outbreaks and antimicrobial stewardship. In particular Luke’s research focuses on multi-drug resistant pathogens, and he leads an active research group look at clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutics in this field.
