Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
MB BS, MRCOG, MA(MEd)
Profile
Miss Dede Ofili-Yebovi is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with specialist expertise in gynaecological ultrasound, early pregnancy care and acute gynaecology. She also provides care for women with a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions and is committed to excellence though clear, compassionate and personalised care.
Dede gained her primary medical degree from Imperial College School of Medicine, University of London, and competitively completed extensive postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology across tertiary and secondary care settings across SE London and Kent. She was admitted to the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register in 2012 and holds a master’s degree in medical education. She is a regular post-graduate and undergraduate examiner in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Dede completed a two-year fellowship in gynaecological ultrasound at King’s College Hospital, London, prior to finishing postgraduate training. During this time, she performed more than 5,500 scans. She has advanced specialist expertise in the ultrasound assessment of uterine & endometrial pathology, adnexal masses, endometriosis and early pregnancy complications. Her ultrasound expertise supports rapid-access diagnosis and treatment plans. She also supervises and teaches resident doctors and consultant colleagues in gynaecological ultrasound practice. Dede has several publications in this area and has been an invited speaker to local and international meetings on topics related to gynaecological ultrasound. She is a member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Dede became a substantive consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2015. She widely collaborated to establish and develop the Trust’s first acute gynaecology service. In 2017, a new amalgamated service of early pregnancy and acute gynaecology was formed and the team was recognised for outstanding award-wining work that improved the lives of women. In 2018, Dede went on to lead the new award-winning service for a three-year tenure. During this time, she continued her focus on successfully improving access to care and ensuring women received timely, supportive treatment. Amongst her notable achievements was faster access to specialist gynaecological care particularly diagnostic ultrasounds in early pregnancy care; surgical and ambulatory treatment options for women presenting with pelvic pain, infection, abnormal vaginal bleeding, fibroids and all early pregnancy complications. She has a strong understanding of the challenges women can face at any stage of their reproductive life cycle across both emergency and routine care settings. Dede is recognised for providing specialist patient-centred gynaecological care at a time women need it most and now advises regional and national boards from that experience.
Approach to care
Dede’s approach to care reflects her specialist clinical and ultrasound expertise, senior leadership experience and educational contributions. She provides compassionate, evidence-based and personalised gynaecological care because she prioritises a full understanding of each patient’s unique needs. She takes time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly and offers operative care as part of a tailor-made individualised treatment plan.
