Mr Joseph Gabriel is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, with a specialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

He is highly experienced in robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), including the advanced Retzius-sparing robotic approach, which has been shown to improve early urinary continence recovery following surgery. Mr Gabriel also offers focal therapy for selected prostate cancers, including high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and cryotherapy. Having trained with the renowned Imperial Prostate Group, he is among a small number of UK surgeons dual-accredited in both robotic and focal prostate cancer treatments, enabling him to provide truly personalised treatment strategies for his patients.

In addition to prostate cancer care, Mr Gabriel provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical treatments for urological conditions affecting the prostate, bladder and urinary tract. His expertise includes cystoscopy, MRI-fusion prostate biopsies, TURBT, vasectomy, circumcision, hydrocele repair, epididymal cyst excision, ureteroscopy, and laser stone surgery.

Mr Gabriel graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2015 with distinctions and academic prizes. He completed his surgical and urological training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery, working in leading robotic urology centres including Eastbourne, Canterbury, Brighton and the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, one of the UK’s highest-volume centres for robotic prostate cancer surgery. He subsequently completed a specialist fellowship in pelvic urological cancers, focusing on robotic prostatectomy and cystectomy, before being appointed Consultant at the age of 33.

He holds a Master’s degree in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and is currently Lead Clinician for Urological Cancers at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He serves on the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Digital Innovation Group and previously held a national elected position on the BAUS Section of Trainees executive committee.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Gabriel maintains an active research interest in robotic surgery, surgical innovation and artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has presented nationally and internationally, published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the British Journal of Urology International (BJUI), and chaired sessions on artificial intelligence and surgical training at the BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting.
