Profile

I am Rachel Adams, First Class Honours BSc graduate in Occupational Therapy from Oxford Brookes University, class of 2017. Following the completion of my studies, I started my career in the NHS in London, where I gained extensive experience across community, inpatient rehab and acute care settings. Over the past four years at Chelsea and Westminster Trust, I have specialised in neurology, burns, stroke care, and frailty and elderly care while also stepping into a leadership role within the hospital. Most recently, I have moved to private care, further enhancing my expertise in managing a diverse group of patients in this sector.

In 2024, I was involved in establishing a high impact service at the hospital, in Frailty and Oncology. As a passionate Occupational Therapist, I am dedicated to promoting the vital role of my profession within healthcare settings. I have championed Occupational Therapy Awareness Week at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, successfully elevating the profile of the OT profession. I’m currently involved in research and quality improvement project within the Trust, with a particular emphasis on enhancing patients’ independence and mobility.

I contribute to higher education as a guest lecturer at St Mary’s University, London. I am passionate about dementia care in addition to end of life care and I am a proud dementia friend.

As a holistic Occupational Therapist, I remain dedicated to optimising patient independence, with a particular focus on cognition and its impact on daily living.
