Mr Bainton is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with a specialist focus on endometriosis and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, in addition to comprehensive care across obstetrics and gynaecology. He is part of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) accredited Endometriosis Centre at Chelsea and Westminster.
He studied medicine at University of Oxford and completed postgraduate training in Cambridge and North West London, including advanced fellowships in endometriosis and complex gynaecological surgery. He undertook a dedicated research fellowship at Imperial College London investigating ways to improve the diagnosis and understanding of the inflammatory basis of endometriosis and he continues to lead endometriosis research projects.
His practice focuses on complex gynaecological conditions, with advanced expertise in minimally invasive surgery, wholistic endometriosis management and full obstetric, pregnancy and labour care. He supports women through both routine and higher-risk pregnancies, with very broad experience in all forms of birth, including complex cases. “I feel extremely privileged to care for women at hugely important moments in their lives. I take a highly personalised approach and work closely to understand priorities for care, overall health, and wider circumstances in order to ensure patients feel informed, supported, and confident in the decisions we make together.”
